This unique feature allows users to track the source of precipitation and the direction of the wind. What sets this app apart is the extensive amount of data it provides. Users have access to weather forecasts, precipitation, wind, cloud cover, atmospheric pressure, snow cover, and other meteorological data for different altitudes anywhere in the world.
- Wind Animation: The Ventusky app presents weather conditions in a captivating manner. The motion of the airflow on Earth is illustrated using streamlines, which vividly depict the continuous development of weather. This visualization highlights the interconnectedness of all atmospheric phenomena.
- Weather Forecast: The app offers a detailed weather forecast for the first three days in one-hour intervals. For subsequent days, forecasts are available in three-hour intervals. Users can also check sunrise and sunset times for any location, as well as air quality information.
- Weather Models: The Ventusky app provides data from highly accurate numerical models that were previously exclusive to meteorologists. In addition to well-known models like the American GFS and HRRR, it also utilizes data from the Canadian GEM and German ICON models, known for their high resolution coverage worldwide. The app also incorporates data from two specialized models, EURAD and USRAD, which utilize current radar and satellite readings to precisely display current precipitation in the United States and Europe.
- Weather Fronts: The Ventusky app includes a unique feature that displays weather fronts. Using a neural network algorithm based on data from weather models, it predicts positions of cold, warm, occluded, and stationary fronts globally.
